Economic Benefits of
Improved Efficiencies

  Expand Volume & Market Share

Transforming your operations will have a profound effect on your bottom line—you will draw volume to your facility, gain market share, and recapture lost revenue. Our clients have experienced economic opportunities in the $10-15 million range over three years, for an average sized non-profit facility. They usually see a return on their investment before the project is over.

Just a few of the sources of this increased revenue include:

Fewer inpatient transfer diversions

Fewer patients leaving the ED before
evaluation

Reduced ED ambulance diversion

Increased patient volumes

EMPATH Client Experience in Enhancing Revenue

$25MM Turnaround

This Washington State client experienced a $25MM turnaround in one year during EMPATH's project, in large part due to the operational process improvements we made. Additionally, CMS awarded this client the 4th largest award in its pay-for-performance project—an incentive payment for delivering higher quality care in five clinical areas.

$400K/Quarter

At a client facility in the Southwest United States, our initial assessment included an Economic Valuation of ED practices, and revealed several million dollars of economic opportunity to be gained with improved ED performance. After our full re-design project was completed, the facility reported that overall inpatient length of stay had been reduced by ½ day, creating a quarterly savings to the hospital of approximately $400,000.

$8MM/Year

At our client site on the East Coast, we redesigned documentation, coding processes, and charge masters, resulting in an increase of $8 million in annual incremental revenue for their institution.

"We are recapturing about a thousand admissions a year here that we wouldn't capture otherwise. When you translate that to revenue stream, that's very significant."
