The ED is divided into zones, 10-12 beds each, with a team of constituents. Each team consists of an ED physician, unit secretary, team leader, PCNs and technicians.
The unit secretary monitors the chart rack system and alerts staff when thresholds are exceeded for test initiation and specimen collections.
Team leaders ensure appropriate resource allocation within the zone and that staff receive assigned meals and breaks.
